Learning Outcomes 

 

  • Participants will be equipped to understand the terms, construction, application of generic derivatives commonly used. This intends to cov-er Forwards, Futures, Option and Swaps.
  • Participants will be able evaluate any derivative structure from risk and reward perspective for informed decision making
  • Participants will be familiar with instruments that can help trade / ex-press views in the market without having to hold the asset

Day 1.

Session 1


 

  • Financial Derivatives – basic understanding
  • Asset markets focussed commonly used instruments
  • Forward Contracts – Construction, Computation
  • Payoff analysis, Premium/discount
     

Session 2
 

  • Margin – computation, top-up, leverage
  • Linkage between forwards and futures
  • Premium/discount determinant, participation in Equity with Futures vs Cash
  • Option Contracts-Introduction

 

Day 2.

Session 3 
 

  • Structured Options - Combination of Options,
  • Common structures, Quantitative examples,
  • Pay off computation and analysis,
  • Application: Trading and Hedging

 

Session 4
 

  • Swaps -Introduction, Types – Interest Rate Swap,
  • Currency Swaps, Principle only swaps,
  • Floating vs fixed, Floating vs floating, etc.,
  • IRS -Types – overnight index, term interest

Trainer is a financial market expert and has rich experience in foreign exchange function. He held key roles in Treasury Sales and has headed Treasury sales business for South Asia for commercial segment in one of the leading banks.
